Default Airconditioner Cycles every 5 seconds

I need some help with my airconditioner. It was not cooling, so I got a recharge kit. The pressure was initially low, but not below 20psi. I charged it to 50 psi when the pump is not on, but when the pump comes on, it drops to 10 psi. The pump cycles every 5 seconds instead of staying on. I don't know if this is normal or not. After driving it for a few hours, the pressure is the same and there is still not cool air. Is my system toast or could it be something mechanical such as a low pressure switch or an expansion valve? How do I tell?

Your still low in refrigerant, the compressor cycles off, to keep the evap. from freezing(low pressure on the suction side), try and find the leak, as it does have a leak if it's that low, once you fix it you'll need to recharge it, but usually you want to weigh it in when you need that much, charging by pressure isn't accurate enough for an auto A/C system

Thanks, I'll see if I can insert some dye and find the leak.
