Default Almost Lost All Gears.

Was about 40 miles from home today when gear slick went all woolly, limp, stirring watery soup like. Ah wait got first gear then third, that was it. Stopped at traffic lights, lights changed and nothing, bloody hulking lorry behind going, hoonk, hoonk. Found first, then third got us home for rest of journey. And what was it all down too, change cable was having a bad day and decided it wanted to go on holiday. Anyway mate got it sorted with one of these round spring clips that normally hold plastic wheels on kiddy prams and small wheeled thingies. Said he only had type with four teeth...Anyone know of right ones to use as I might have to carry spares, just in case. Think you can buy different sizes of them in plastic boxes.

Does the correct clip not come with a new change cable?

Have you tried calling Fiat spares to see what they say you need, they may be able to get the original clip and/or cable.

Have ordered a set of Internal Tooth Starlock Push on Locking Speed Clips to carry about just in-case it pops off again.
Taronga, I wouldn't expect a new cable to come with these clips as its probably the garage that fits cable to supply these.
As to new cable I would expect a secondhand one to do, as long as no damage to cable or ends.
Yet to find picture of this coupling with these clips.

About £12 a box delivered from OFNEY on Amazon mate, we call them clips or spring washers.

Yes thanks Captain getting them off Fleebay for about £8 for assorted 280 of them in a plastic box. Quite happy to pay that even though about 97% of them aren't getting used but going into my mates parts bin. Its a case off If it gets one out of these difficulties who cares. Still interested to know if these are the correct fitting. Can't find my Chrysler manual at mo.
