Default Check engine light

My wife and I have a 2001 T & C and the check engine light has recently popped on. Or at least I am guessing it is the check engine light as I am not a car guy and more of a tech guy. I have attached a pic of the light that is on.

The van has about 162,000 miles on it. We bought it last January and I am not sure when the last tune up was done on it. I have read somewhere that the check engine light could simply mean the oil level is low among other relatively easy things to fix. Just wanted to get some ideas as to what to do first before jumping into running the van to the shop for a major overhaul.
