Default Cold feet passenger footwell? Fixed - cosy.

Seasons Greetings.

As the weather has turned cold I noted that there is cold air in the passenger side footwell (UK car, so right hand drive). When I did a search I saw some threads suggesting look at the actuators, but also a couple of mentions of the pollen filter. Very common for the cover to fall off.

Anyway, what I found is that the heaters all blow nice warm air into the footwells both sides and into the rear (this car has the separate controls for left side front, right side front, and rear). However, when the blower is on there is a minor hurricane of cold air spilling out of the bottom of the pollen filter housing, tucked under the dash on the passenger (left hand) side. No cover on the pollen filter...curses!!

Hunted around in the vehicle and found the pollen filter cover tossed in the rear centre console...what a result. Fits well, but won't stay in place when blower is on full....simple fix for a little bit of black duct tape to hold cover in place. How on earth was this ever meant to stay in place?

Frankly I'm a big duct tape fan, so if I didn't find the cover I would have done the whole job with the duct tape and it would have worked well enough. I struggle to imagine a world where duct tape had not been invented, and am amazed that Mr (or Miss) Duct never got a Nobel Peace Prize for the undoubted benefits to mankind from his/her invention.

Now nice and cosy around the feet. So thanks to this forum for the tips again, just in time for our long haul trip to the French Alps day after Christmas.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

And Happy Motoring.

Munro.

I once saw some of this tape in Leeds market. It was chinese and called "duck-tape". I stood there for hours expecting it to "quack"...

From the Brooklyn Bridge to WWII ammo boxes to fenders on the moon, duct tape is everywhere. Duct tape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While in the Air Force we used an absolutely indestructible duct tape that stuck hard to nearly anything. Wish I could remember who made it. Gorilla brand tape is the best I've seen since.

Ahhhhh, Polen Filter. Is there one on this 2003 Voyager of mine. Pollen Filter has kept coming up in the forum but I've just ignored it cos had no idea where it is.
Up under passenger side dash, better have a look then, bet its as choked as hell....Like rest of filters when I got car.
Right enough heater doesn't blow very well.
Ah Thanks...

HiYa goggs, all from 01 to 07's as far as I'm aware and covering all engines. They changed shape with the new Mk in 08. Black plaggy lid - comes out of the bottom - not top.
