Question Constant chime, no 3rd gear...

My 2001 Chrysler Town and Country will (at random) start chiming with no dash lights coming on, ie air bag, trac off, etc. and chug a bit. After chugging, it refuses to shift into 3rd gear and still continues to chime. What could be the cause of this and how can I remedy it? I don't have the slightest idea where to begin in diagnosing this problem.

Nope, no check engine lights, nothing. And my battery connections are all very well cleaned and secure.

How about checking for codes anyway? Just pulled a code off my mom's Camry and the light was not on. Maybe your PCM (Power Control Module) is going south? Have you checked all connections in the fuse box? (fuses/relays) How is the main power feed going into the fuse box?
