Default CPU reset after ABS lead change

I have replaced the passenger side ABS cable and sensor. I had expected this to cure the problem of the warning light in the dash being on, as diagnostics revealed this cable was faulty.
Do I need to somehow reset the CPU so it knows there's a new cable there or is that a job for someone with a diagostic computer?

Many thanks

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 2-3 minutes. If that doesn't work you may need a scanner.

Disconnect one battery cable and touch it to the other one for about 10 seconds and it will reset everything.

Doing the battery disconnects didn't fix it, I guess i'll have to go back to the diagnostics man.

If the diagnostics where reporting a failure of one wheel sensor it doesn't necessarily mean that it is the sensor is faulty. It could be the wiring from the sensor to the ABS unit, the ABS unit itself, the alignment of the sensor or the reuctor rings on the hub.

You have to look at all the possible causes of why the ABS unit believes it is not getting a good strong signal from that wheel that is consistent with the signals from the other wheels.

Be sure none of the teeth are broken and nothing is lodged between them. this will give a bad signal.

If it's any relevance, some ercos on my Jag. could only be dealer-erased. Maybe that's why if the braking system is involved?

abs sensor faults on the chrysler's will self clear when the fault is rectified. Tends to be SRS faults that need to be manually cleared, but each make has it's own little foibles.
