Thanks Andy, brilliant video and a great help to us all. My 2.8 is warming up OK at the moment but you make the job look so easy in your great tutorial that I think I'll add another thermostat before the winter sets in.
I'm a consensual objector and happy with the real thermostat at back of engine that was fitted by my son nearly 5 years ago, with my direction of course. Son said he wouldn't go near my car again after that job due to the heated argument he had with it. But he calmed down quickly after white coats from the Looney House turned up. Got a real mechanic on the job now though..
But in all a really good idea to fit the thermostat in this place and I'm sure the dialogue will be in different languages by now.
Thanks for the great video. I have a 2012 Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD with the same problem. The cooling system configuration is different though. See below. Does it matter where the second thermostat goes? I am assuming that the 1.5mm hole will allow enough flow so that the thermostat will open, but don't want to assume myself into a cooked engine. Cheers. Joakes from Aus. Pipe on this model is lower than in the video. Hose connecting directly to the top of the radiator is easier to access and I would have to drain less fluid. Would it be OK to put the thermostat here?
By the way. I took the Chyrsler to a dealership service centre in Bendigo and the quote to replace the thermostat is attached. I know they replace the whole water pump assembly, but my eyes popped at the $2998.92 quote.
