Default Fuel pump and fuel gauge

Have a 96 with the 3.8 and all of a sudden the fuel pump stopped and the fuel gauge also reads empty with a full tank. Has spark but no sound from fuel pump and what confuses me is that the gas gauge stopped working too. Fuse for fuel pump okay. Any ideas? Thanks
