Gas gauge problem

Gas gauge problem
So I have a 2002 Town & Country. Intermittently, the gas gauge goes nuts, and the "miles to empty" readout goes from the current miles left down to zero, and back up as the needle fluctuates. It only does it on occasion, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. It's not throwing a code of course...
I've attached a video.
Also - I don't think it's related, but once the gas gets below half a tank (regardless of whether or not the gauge does its thing), when I turn left the car bucks and hesitates. the lower the gas, the worse it is.
I can handle the turning bit, but the gauge is driving me crazy!
Any ideas? I appreciate any suggestions and thank in advance!

What is the state of your battery, is it starting your car ok, how old is it and what voltage is it showing when engine not running. Then what is the charging rate/output of your Alternator. Fault maybe just a low voltage issue often encountered on here. Note it effects other cars as well..

Honestly not sure what the voltage(s) are, but both the alternator and battery are new. The alt is about 3 mos old and the battery about a year probably less. I know what you are talking about, when the alternator went the WHOLE dash was going nuts...the gas gauge, tachometer, mileage, oil pressure, etc...this is *just* the fuel gauge. And when it went haywire last time because of the alternator, the digital readout of the "miles to empty" stayed constant. In this case, when the gas gauge goes up and down, the miles to empty goes from the current max (say, 150 miles), down to literally zero, back up again, back down again, etcetcetc.... I'll take it to an auto parts store and check the voltage, but I dont honestly think its that.

Reboot like turning off your PC so it reassesses itself. In this case I was going to say remove your negative battery terminal for 20 odd minutes. But in your case remove both pos + neg terminals for same time but clean all connecting faces before refitting.
