Guess what.... after last nights frustration, I was searching and found another forum
http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com and multiple people had the same problem. it turns out there is a screen in the power steering reservoir that gets clogged! this morning I went to the dealership, purchased a new reservoir for 26.00, installed it and the noise is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
please pass this info along and save people from spending hundreds like I did.
