Many of our American & Canadian cousins have remote start, perhaps one or two might enlighten you on their particular real time practical use of the product.

So......how about repairing the crack? I know nothing about these heaters, but if the crack gan be got at and it's a steel unit containing the water, it can be soldered so long as you use flux-for-steel and a big 200watt soldering iron plus a Gaz blowtorch. Just chase out the crack 1st with an old junior hacksaw blade. The unit containing water will never get above 100*C so you'll have a workmanlike repair.

Hi Leedsman, I know a good bit about welding, brazing and soldering, but the heat exchanger is made from a white metal like Aluminium and its a Casting. So it you could repair it, it would be likely to crack again.
Maybe Radiator sealer like Radweld in the coolant would do, but thing is the flame from the injected diesel hits the ribbed surface.
Think I put pictures of it on here, did you see them.
There was a new one on Flee-bay, from Poland not long ago, they wanted £70 odd for it but I couldn't be bothered. Maybe future issue unless I get this new Kenlowe one I've got fitted.
Thanks.

I do have a spare Aux heater from our 07 2.8, I did have plans for using it elsewhere but never got round to doing anything with it. £40 + whatever the postage is if anyone is interested. It was working fine when I took it off
