Help! 2011 T&C only reversing ! have tried everything!
Hello everyone ! I am in need of some serious advice and hopefully someone that has gone through this same problem and has a solution!
I have a 2011 town and country, it has been a problem from the very beginning. Anyways we broke down on the freeway a couple weeks ago, and seemed like the gears were slipping. After it came off the tow truck it seemed to work in 1 and 2nd triptronic, and reverse. We put in new automatic transmission fluid and changed the filter as the fluid was burnt. It seemed to fix it just fine !
Almost exactly 2 weeks later in the same exact spot our car decides ago to break down. Still it worked in 1st and 2nd in triptronic but nothing over second . and reverse !! reverse always worked! This time we have put non-slip additive in the transmission fluid bought brand new solenoids pack, added Lucas non slip fluid, checked the fluid levels.
there has been NO DTC CODES at all for both times, good reverse this whole time.
Now after solenoid pack, there are NO gears and it starts slipping immediately and you cannot go forward, and can't even get out of the driveway. We have a code reader as well.
We are buying a pressure tester to check the in line transmission fluid pressure.
Any ideas, suggestions would be so grateful and thankful!
we owe a ton on this car and just so unhappy that we bought this and now it is useless to us.
thank you again!

You are getting a "limp mode" when your initial problem started. What kind of scanner are you using to check for codes? You may need a better one that can retrieve more than just generic engine OBD11 codes to access trans and body modules(TCM/BCM).
This is indeed not good, I feel for you as that's not a nice situation to be in.
Right, so right now it has a new solenoid pack but won't move at all, when you say slips, engine just revs and the car won't hold on the spot or it'll try to move a little?
First things first, after changing the solenoid pack are all the cable and connectors reconnected, as to me that sounds like the electronic shift lever in the cab isn't sending the signals to the gearbox ECU so it's not engaging. So double-check your cable connections, etc, there, hopefully that is a simple one.
I'm not 100% as mine is an 04/05 older variant but low gears (Limp mode as rebel59 mentioned correctly) are mechanical shifts, and if it's not doing these mechanical shifts then there is a complete comms or ECU failure on the gearbox.
After checking your connections and doubly sure everything is back in place after the solenoid change I think I'd be looking to an autobox specialist as this could get complicated if it's something more fundamental with the autobox.
Also as rebel59 says, you have to have a fancy scanner to get proper codes out of these beasts. Regular ODB2 readers won't give you all of the info, generally if the reader can tell you the make/model of the ECU (Bosch, etc) then you've got one that will do the right job!
Good luck!
