Default Indicators Flashing Fast

Basically, if I indicate left or right, the indicators flash fast, as if there is a bulb out (there isnt).

If I put the hazzard warning lights on, they flash as they should.

Google only throws up bulb out replies, wondered if anyone in here has had a similar problem.

Cheers,

Rab

Look carefully...There is a bulb out....

Have someone sit in the car, and turn on the parking lamps, and walk completely around the car, (Front MARKER LAMPS TOO)...

Then, have your assistant step on the brake, and walk around the car again.

A bulb with shorted filaments , or a missing ground can cause Body controls to default, Thus the fast flash, with no obvious defects at first glance.

In the UK the Stop/brake lights are not used as direction indicators (it's illegal here) The UK spec rear cluster has an additional single filiment amber lamp for direction indication.

Also the front amber marker lamps on UK spec do not come on as parking lamps...they are only used as direction indicators. (there are low wattage white bulbs built into the headlight for park lamps).

But it's worth checking the repeater lamps on the front wings....easy to miss when checking the indicators.

Hello again,

Thanks for the replies so far, heres what I've done.

Checked all bulbs again. 1 front fog out, then noticed rear fog's not working. Checked bulbs, changed anyway, still not working. All indicator bulbs ok.

It has a towbar Merlin, so I went and got a light board that works. Tail lights and brake lights work (doesnt have a fog light as of yet) indicators dont.

Dismantled the wiring plug, found the microswitch. The 3 pins are labelled C NO NC. Theres no voltage between any 2 but then I dont know if there should be or not.

The only other thing I can add is that I'm sure this only happened after I had been chasing something draining the battery a while back (unplugging and disconnecting everything I could find in the car).

Hi
The fact the fog light is also affect points again to the tow bar as the micro switch cuts out the fog light. Have you unplugged the tow bar module? It sits behind the spare wheel jack.

Yep, I unplugged that too and it made no difference. All the towbar wiring in the coupling looks fine as well (no corrosion or damage).

Hand traced the towbar wiring back, some went to a small fusebox in where the jack is stowed.
It has 4 positions for fuses, only 2 have wires at the rear. One of the fuses was in the wrong place.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
