internal coolant leak?
Hi there,
I have a 2007 Grand Voyager 2.8 diesel. I've had a few problems with it in the past. Needed a new compressor when a pulley sheered off, new oil cooler when oil started leaking into the coolant. It's been serviced regularly up to its current 105k miles. It was running really well and I was delighted it had a relatively cheap service for once a fortnight ago. But, this weekend the oil light flashed on and off. I checked the oil and all was fine, but the coolant was very low - this had happened since the service so quite a rapid draining. The garage can't find any sign of an external leak and have suggested I 'keep an eye on it' but they think there is an underlying issue. Any thoughts what it might be or things i should be looking out for? I love the car, but am getting increasiingly worried about taking it on a 2000 mile plus road trip packed with all my family and camping gear this summer. Am i mad? thanks in advance

First check your Auxilliary heater exhaust pipe for coolant. Second drain your sump to see if there's coolant lying in bottom. Third your coolant/oil cooler on end of oil filter stub might be cracked/fractured/needing replaced (again). Think your oil cooler is shouting, "It's me,me,me".
'It was running really well and I was delighted it had a relatively cheap service for once a fortnight ago' - and now you have a massive leak & overheating engine oil. Get back and make them do a 20+psi pressure test at least and make them use a squirty bottle with fairy liquid and torch on any hose connection joints they've touched.
