hello there i am new to the forum in sunny england i have a problem with my grand voyager 3.3 lx t reg it appers to be boiling the water in the radiator and the coolent top up bottle but temp gauge is still only half way up it is leaking from the over flow and the top cap on radiator any advice wood be great

I would suspect a blown head gasket or a bad radiator cap with the symptoms you mention. Look for bubbles in the coolant after removing the radiator cap (cold removal) and then bringing it up to operating temp. There is a gauge than can be put on the radiator (replaces the cap) which will tell you if it is building pressure from exhaust gas, but you will have to get a radiator shop to do the test. It also could be a stuck thermostat, but I doubt that because of the temp gauge readings. You should probably check for bubbles first, if no bubbles, change the radiator cap, and finally change the thermostat, if you don't want to spend the money to get a radiator shop to test the system. Please let us know what the outcome is.

 

thanks for the reply i have checked for the bubbles as you said and there was none so i have changed the radiator cap and it seems to have worked so far
