I have the engine fault light on, not flashing just a steady light. The key dance tells me I have P1103, P0403 and p1685 codes. My mechanic said that his code reader was only showing P0402. Now I have checked the voltage on the pins that go to the EGR solenoid and this is only showing about 6 to 7 volts. Is this the correct voltage, have looked at stuff on you tube and they say 12 volts. But being a Chrysler who knows what voltage it should be. Any help will be appreciated.
Start with the basics: year - model - engine - mileage
What is the condition of the battery, should be 12.4+ volts with the motor off and between 14.2 volts and 14.6 volts with the motor running (quick but not through check). A weak/failing battery can cause codes.
Hi GGoose and thanks for the reply. The car is a 2007 Grand Voyager. I believe that it is called a Town and Country, in the USA. It has a 2.8 diesel engine so no plugs involved. The battery looks quite new, but I have only had the car a few of weeks. The light came on after I had, had it for about two weeks. Battery volts are 12 volts engine not running and about 13.8 volts engine on tick over. The mileage is 107000 miles. When I do the key trick, the car shows three codes. P1130 this will stay on for quite some time, maybe 4 minutes. Then it will show P1685, this also will stay on for about 3 to 4 minutes, and then the p0403 this was only on for a couple of flashes, say 30 seconds. I went to my friendly mechanic who used to look after my taxi, and on his super duper code reader it only showed P0402. He cleared it and thought that the fault was possibly a vacuum leak on the vacuum solenoid. This is the part with the yellow pipe connector attached. *** I was saying it was only showing about 6 volts when the plug at the bottom of it was measured. If this should be twelve volts, this could be my problem.
Well just went out and disconnected the power to the big solenoid, not the one shown in the photo above, but the other one, and the engine management light has gone out. The code still shows when doing the key dance ,but at least it is now clear according to the dash board.
