Default Power steer loss

hey guys.. on my wifes 06 3.8 with 160000 the power steering has begun to suddenly go out in heavy rains.. it does come back fairly quickly but twice now thru a deep puddle it has completely gone out in a turn while i was driving and almost caused a big problem/// the pump will sometimes whine, but not everyday and has been doing that for years but not very often.. i have changed fluid and ordered new OEM tensioner, idler pulley and belt to try... am i missing anything ? it has never gone out like this until last few months and we have owned van since new in 06.. thanks alot

sounds like the belt slipping when it gets wet. Unless mounting bolts/bushings are worn then a new belt should cure it.
