Change your power steering fluid to a true synthetic if you are in that cold weather.
If the pump cracked or split, there may have been some water in the power steering system.
ATF4 doesn't cut the mustard in sub 0 weather.

You are probably right. But after getting my van back from the Dealer last Friday. They "forgot" about a half bottle of Mopar ATF-4 fluid on the passenger seat...I thought that you could (read that as SHOULD) only use true power steering fluid????[&:]

Yes,Chrysler is having a big problem with the 08 caravan P/S return line. Most are splitting right down the middle in extreme cold weather. We have been informed by Chrysler to make a temp. repair with bulk hose and save all the old hoses we remove until they can figuire out what the problem is.

That stinks, I am revoking acceptance of new van, Why should I die on the highway if the power steering is going to quit every time it gets cold. Pure stench engineering.
