Default rear brake shoe assembly.

i have just purchased new brake pads/shoes and springs for my 2003 petrol voyager but didin't realise the adjuster was broken. am able to refit without the adjuster until able to receive one i am about to order of ebay? help needed urgently thanks in advance

If it operated with a broken adjuster, the chances are it will operate without an adjuster. You're not going to save much money on a part that small by buying it on eBay. Why not just go down to the local parts store and get one?

parts store told me they dont stock them and it would be a dealer part. not sure when it broke all i know is i had to be recovered last night and when i have opened it up this morning to replace the shoes and springs just fell out once i removed the drum.

I'd go secondhand from a breakers. And if your shoe securing pins have pulled out of the backplate due to it being rusted, fit shoes with 4mm machine screws through the coil springs, repair washers front and back and lock nut. These backplates are over £100 in GB.

thanks goggs i have purchased new spring set so that not a problem as all spring were shot. found adjuster set on ebay so just waiting for delivery now meanwhile fitted brakes back together without shoes. thanks for replies everyone.

I bet you find the handbrake works almost as good as when you had the shoes fitted.

they actually do lol but still put in gear to be on safe side.

I would never ever trust this design of handbrick on even the slightest of inclines in a 3 ton Voyager. Automatics of course have additional help. Glad you got it working djmark
