Launch have bought out a new code reader which is only available as a grey import from China at the present.

It consists of a blue tooth dongle which connects to the car and an application for either andriod or iphone. The clever part is that they sell the software modules for car makes individually. This brings the cost for enthusiasts who only have one make of car down considerably.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but if the software is the same as my Diagun/X431 then it should be good.

example from ebay

I did consider it for Android version 4.0 a long time ago, but decided that without guaranteed grey software or a mask applied to the main chip which stores the serial number information they would never allow a legit site purchase. If Richard or anyone knows this unit works well in the UK and allows a direct £60$ each Chrysler specific software download from the registered Launch website let the forum know - you will help thousands - thanks to tfb for this post.

- I've got a 4in1 somewhere, that cost me £180 when I bought it
- lots of people borrow it and swear by it, it won't do anything much on my 05 GV
- whether it works on your 01 I've no idea, only sure way to find out is to plug it in and find out
- how developed the BUS is and what types of BUS are used determined the outcomes of most scanners

I did not want to be unfair to Autel, its a horses for courses I love their MaxiDAS Pro, but then it costs 7 times more than the one I have - you get what you pay for. S
.
Here's a
of the MaxiDAS and tfb's new 431 when he buys it :

Spot on advice and helpful as usual, yes it was the VAG group / VW specific vehicle. He [the mate] says he can't find it in the menu[s] - I will have a ride round to his garage - thanks tfb, much appreciated.
