Default Remote Starter

My Grandpa wants me to install a Chrysler Remote Start 82210987AD which says it fits 08 Grand Caravan, which I guess is the same as the Town and Country for this option. My question is about the "Dealer Scan Tool" they mention that is required, It looks like installing the starter is not a problem, but can anyone shed light on the scan tool requirement?

Does Chrysler have a problem doing an activation on a self installed unit like that. Any idea what the cost would be?

Wait, do these keys have a chip in them? That is why it needs to be told that it has a remote starter? Otherwise, we would have to secretly hide a second key in the vehicle so the the motor will turn.

I dont think there is a remote start for an 03

U can install the system yourself all day long it just wont work until U take it to a dealer and then they tell the computer what U have put in Call them up and ask how much it is for them to program it.

As for the 03 model, you might check around for aftermarket starters, I picked up one from Sams Club one time for a 05 Chevy Colorado that works great.

no its not false info on an 08 system the dealer has to tell the TIPM that it has a remote start system install please dont contradict what I say unless u have creditable info to offer.

If u install aftermarket crap no u wont haft to go to the dealer.
