Default Roof Bars

Hi

What weight can you put on roofbars? They seem very flimsy, manual says 68KG

Just wondered if anyone had successfully put roofbox on roofbars without need for proper roofrack.

If it says 68 kg in the manual, thats what it is.
I fit a roofbox onto the roofbars for the summer holidays and have not had any problems using it.
Ours is a halfords 250 litre that can take 50 KG, currently £110.
The only problem is that it can be difficult to mount. I'm 6ft2 but really need to use a step ladder to get 2 of the fittings on (the hinge side ones). Probably more to do with the height of the car though.
