Town and country ABS issue
I have an 08 town and country 3.5l. Recently sometimes when i hit a bump just right the abs and etc light comes on for a minute then goes off. Is there a particular sensor I should look at by chance
Some time ago, if that model uses the same arrangement as mine (2006), it's useful to clean out the cogwheels that actuate the sensor on each wheel. They get clogged with rust and general crud. The rust spoils the magnetic signal to the magnetodiodes in the sensors, so much so it could be on the verge of not working properly.
Use a small wire brush together with a screwdriver to shift stubborn rust. Both kinds of rust (Fe2O3 and Fe3O2) are magnetic. The target is to have the cogs clean and sharp, there is no need to use anti-rust such as Jenolite.
This is a time consuming job, but it is straightforward and costs nothing, and at least eliminates one cause.
Caution: When jacking, see that an additional prop is used together with the jack for safety's sake. I just put the wheel I've taken off under the body near the jack plus a bit of board to be on the safe side.
