Default unusual starting issue 2.5 crd 2002

the problem i have is sometimes when starting the car cold/hot the starter will turn and then as if the engine has got stuck which then makes the headlamps come on and various other lights
i checked the earth connections and have fitted a new starter thought i had sorted it with the new starter but today it done it again
next thing i am going to do is change the main feed to the starter and main earth strap
anyone else had similar issues?

right i have put in a new 12v main feed to the starter and earth strap from battery to engine block , thought this may have something to do with it but no it did it again to the wife
what are the possibilites of the new starter being faulty as when i started it the other day it made the grinding gear noise like the gear isnt engaging before turning ?

Hi Dan

Not convinced this is your problem/solution, but it might help.
