Default Whats correct engine ide speed for 2.5 CRD

I think my idle engine speed is set too high. Its close to 1000rpm and when i drive off and put the gear into 2 and in slow traffici have to continuously brake as the car moves too quickly without me even touching the accelerator. Like the revs are rather high for that gear if i make sense

How many revs should it do in idle/neutral

Cheers

Can't find the exact figure, but it should be between 790 and 870 RPM (worked out from some of the requirements of diagnostic tests)

Regards
Richard

The idle speed can't really be adjusted, it's a software function and not a screw like in the old days.

Not sure if it could be caused by the accelerator pedal not fully returning to rest though.

Regards
Richard

I remember I have a shot of my idle rev (also manual)
BTW I also used had the habit to drive away in gear 2 with manual diesel engines but I found it was not the proper way with the heavy weight of the Voyager. With heavy cars like this you really need to use the 1st gear, especially with a little cargo in it.

Noted. I will desist from starting off in 2nd use 1st. I wish this lovely car was an automatic
