Default What's your CRD/Diesel milage?

I posted this on the "other Chrysler forum" too, but I think that forum is populated by mostly Americans who for the most part don't drive Diesel engines. I also couldn't find a similar thread by Search on this forum.

I would like to know how many Miles/Kilometres CRD/Diesel Chrysler drivers have on their car, to see how long we can keep our (VM)diesels running.

2002 Grand Voyager 2.5 CRD SE (manual transmission) 240.000 Km (150.000 miles)
the engine runs like its brand new

>renewed oil, filters, serpentine belts, clutch and distribution belt at 230.000km

Our first was a 1999 2.5TD which we got up to 205,000miles before it was crashed... ;-( no engine work needed, clutch and synchro were done at 110,000. No Cam belt :-)

2nd wasn't as successful!

3rd is a 2006 2.8CRD auto, the cam belt was done at 70,000miles before we bought it, now with 78,500 miles on it so we are hoping to get many many more miles out of it...

Mileage -- a quarter million is not unusual for a well-maintained GV diesel. Mine has 110,000mile on it and burns no engine oil. These VM-Motori diesels are very understressed at only 150horse for the 2.8CRD.
MpgUK. -- 2.8CRD auto. Town 26-28mpgUK: Higway/motorway around 35mpgUK for a well maintained vehicle. Better figs. for a manual. Hypermiler tricks work with this vehicle.

Mines on 186k and I'm getting really, really, worried as its not using engine oil as did my previous cars with less mileage. Mind you I think it has done more miles than this as there is evidence of taxi radio holes on lower dash. Birmingham was its first and last home. Tried to contact previous owner as to Cambelt renewal date but got no answer even with stamped envelope included. Had a brand new Volvo V70 back a few years ago and sorry to say it doesn't match the voyager on quite a few specks.

My V70 aka "the smelly volvo" is just shy of 300,000 miles, should hit the 300K mark in a couple of months. Our Chrysler is only on 82K

2005 2.8 CRD automatic GV 220,000 miles.
Failures:
1. All 4 injectors refurbed 1 at 100k 3 at 190k
2. Alternator and battery at 100k
3. Glow plug relay (still on original glow plugs!)
4. Catalytic converter at 100k ish
5. Oil cooler failure (internal erosion?) at about 190k
6. Fuel filter housing at 200k
7. Common rail "relief valve"? at about 200k (linked to 6 above).
8. Just had air con compressor seize at 210k.
9. Changed motor brushes in window motor a couple of times.
10. Changed bearing in serpentine tensioner at 190k.
11. Changed battery at 150k, didn't fail but was too small (fitted by dealer see 2. above) fed up of getting a flat battery from int lights etc.
12. All suspension including anti roll bar bushes are original, had advisory on near side track rod end which I need to do. Had the thump/thump at low speed when moving off/slowing from I think the anti roll bar bushes 5 years ago....but it went away......if it aint broke......I know if it aint broke it soon will be so get one in ....I have..... they have been rolling about in the boot ever since (wish I hadn't said that!)
13. Did the 33k ohm mod for a non spiral batter described by Leedsman/Quintec, I documented it on this forum, put a 3 way switch so i can switch it in/out if needed, float charge is about 14.2, battery seems fine so i leave it at that.

I think thats it.

Servicing:
1. Now service every 6k with Mobil1, I'm almost certain I get the extra 0.5 p back in better fuel consumption.
2. Change 4 litres of oil from auto box every 30k and filter every 60k (might do it every 30k)
3. Fuel/air filter every 20k.
4. Now drain power steering fluid and refill when change the engine oil (will post on this soon..been meaning to do that for a while).
5. Front discs changes 3times (on 4th set) rear discs only changed once! Ebc pads and discs on the front are remarkable.
6. Cambelt changed at 70k and 190k ish.

Generally use Mopar filters and always Mopar ATF4+.

Fuel consumption:
1. Don't think I get less than 30 mpg ever.
2. Can get 45 at 60 ish if I'm carefull. taking your foot of completely when you go down hill makes a difference, I think it cuts the fuel of completely.
3. Biggest single difference was changing auto gearbox oil, the box changes up noticably earlier.

My manual 2.5 CRD does easily 32-34MPG while driving on cruise control and although I did something like 6000 miles since I bought the car and with 150K miles on the counter the engine did not use any oil whatsoever
I am starting to believe these VM engines are pretty good...
