I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXi and noticed the car overheats after awhile. The coolant will leak out the cap and the reservoir will start bubbling. I have checked the oil and see no milky white film on oil and there is no smoke coming out the exhaust and I have no loss of power or compression. The two fans also come on. I did notice that there was a small chip on the lip of the radiator neck. I used JB weld putty to seal it but coolant will still leak out the cap. I have checked hoses which seem to be fine. I have attached a picture of the radiator cap that showed the chip before I repaired it with JB Weld putty. I was wondering where I could get a replacement radiator neck or is that what it is even called? What could be causing the overheating? Any suggestions?

Had a somewhat similar problem with my 97 Cirrus. The source of my overheating problem was air trapped inside the cooling system caused by improper bleeding after replacing coolant.

The 97 Cirrus doesn't have a bleed valve or connection, so the procedure for bleeding was to remove the cap and cycle through several heat up cycles.

Did you put a new radiator cap on? You can also remove the thermostat to make sure that's not the problem. If it no longer overheats with the thermostat removed, then you either have a small leak somewhere, or it needs a new thermostat.
