64 NewYorker vibration on acceleration
Hello to all,
I am the proud owner of a 1964 Chyrsler NewYorker with 80,000 miles. It starts and runs great, it even looks good. But, when drivingI get avibration only on acceleration (it feels like it coming frombehind the front seat)between 35-45 mph. I have checked; my tires andwheels for balance, the motor and transmission mounts, all of which checked-out okay. A good mechanic I know said it could be the drive shaft out of balance, although I think it would have the same vibration on de-acceleration. The rear axle and mounts appear to be inline and securely mounted. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be one of the axles?

a mechainc i know says that if you have a misson a mopar inthe ign system you will feel it miss only at idle. atspeed you dont feel it but itsstill there. on ford or gm car you feel it at all speeds. check the cups and cross in the drive shaftthat theyare centered, being cenered is VERY important, and that the cross is not worn. some times the needles will ware in to the cross.

ok check the rear motor mount. my dad had a 64 dodge new, and the rear motor mount was bad. its a pourly made mount. ithink it took a oversize washer to fix it. mopar or no car.
