heat in my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica
I am having problems with the heat in my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. I haven't had it a whole year yet so I haven't had to use the heat yet until now, especially since I live in South Texas. Anyhow, my heat is not working properly. I was having problems with my air conditioning working all the time recently. I would work intermitently but I found out my fan was going bad and replaced it and it works fine now. I tried using the air for the first time this week and even when I set the thermostat to "HI" 84 degrees and the fan on high, the air that comes out is not real warm and it doesn't blow out hard. Any ideas what the problem may be?
If you are setting the temperature to a certain number of degrees, then you have automatic temperature control. The car won't heat up any faster by cranking it up to an uncomfortably warm temperature. It'll just get too hot eventually which will probably result in you or somebody in the car opening a window which will just confuse the system further. If somebody adjusts the fan speed manually, then it will stay there and you will think there's something wrong with it. Try dialing it to a reasonable temperature, hitting the "auto" button and leaving it alone. Within about 5 minutes or so it should have the temperature in the car about right. The system is designed to determine where the air should come out (floor vents or dash vents) at the velocity and temperature that are necessary. In the winter you might need to turn it up one or two degrees from the summer setting, but wild fluctuations in the temperature and fan settings will only confuse the system and make the car uncomfortable. Set it and forget it.
