2008 Chrysler Town & Country Sliding door wont open at all
I have a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Touring Walter P Chrysler edition with nearly 288,000 Miles on it. Absolutely love the van. Was an absolute steal at $4,300!!. We have a issue with the Driver side sliding door not wanting to unlock manually or with the unlock buttons, and cannot open the door whatsoever. We had absolutely no signs or warning something was wrong before it happen. Trying to get the panels apart, but it appears there is screws that I cannot get to around the door handle and between the door handle panel and the front part of the door in order to pull the rest of the door panel off. I really hate to break something trying to get this tore apart. I cannot find any videos for that particular year. Every video I come across is from vans about 2010 or newer that doesn't appear to have these screws (lucky them), or the prior generation (2007 and older). Any tips would be awesome! Even if you've had to make/use a slim-jim to get to something behind the panels to release the locks I'm all for it. I have a pretty heavy background on the mechanical side, including 15 years as a industrial mechanic/technician... so if I have to do something extremely special to get to the finesse the lock actuator, I'm all for it. I'm more or less worried about destroying the door panels at this point, as even though this van has this many miles, and has been in northern Indiana all it's life... it's in extremely great shape. Thanks!
I was trying to figured out the thread thing, first time I used it... didn't know how to post it. I appreciate it. On a side note, I did finally get it figured out. I ended up pulling the panel off the pins just enough to allow me just enough room to get a small ratchet in between the main door panel and the door to get to the roughly 16 - 10mm bolts that hold the inner panel on the door out.... which allowed me to pull the main panel out with the inner panel enough to get to the two screws that were un-accessible with the door closed. It seems the lock actuator was jammed horribly. Pushed the lock actuator rod towards the rear with great force and got it to free up. Got my door working again! Thankfully.
I'm definitely not putting those two screws back in, and definitely taking out those same screws out of the other door before it fails...
