Default 2019 Ram 1500 Limited - Will not move in Drive

I have a 2019 Ram with less than 1,000 miles, and on 5 different occasions, the truck will not move when I put it in drive. The dealer can not replicate the problem since it happens randomly. There has been 2 failed attempts to fix the problem. Going in for a 3rd time to tmrw. Here is a video of what I am experiencing:

Hi Jaketerk,
Was your dealer able to provide you with any feedback as to why this may be occurring? Please feel free to send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance while your truck is at the dealer.

Default Disappointed is an understatement.

Lydia,
Thanks for your note. The short answer is simply no explanation at all has been given. They thought it was electronic at first, but their reset did nothing. The dealer is In Norristown PA. Their website: norristownchryslerdodge.com. The owner is Ross Choate and we have been in communication, however he said ďWe have to duplicate it to try to be able to diagnose it.Ē I stand here simply in shock over this whole situation. The vehicle was towed to the dealer the first time because it would not go into drive and you saw the video of the last time it did not engage in drive. I donít understand why the dealer or chrysler wonít step up to take care of this before I go to the BBB and/or file a law suit. Any assistance would certainly be appreciated.

Same exact thing happened me yesterday.

Just bought my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 less than a week ago. 200 miles on the truck.

I shut the truck off like he did in the video. Restarted it and put it in drive. Tapped the gas and it jumped in gear. Did not like the sound or feel of it.

When will there be a fix for this? Seems there have been plenty of complaints about this same problem already.

Default 2019 ram 1500 wonít move in drive !

Hi all , The same thing has happened to me twice ! Two weeks ago 600 miles , jumped in at lumber yard put in drive nothing ,nothing , stepping on gas motor wouldnít rev just acted like it was being held back ! Checked parking brake put back in park tried again , finally after sitting there looking like an idiot it slammed into gear and made a not good sound ! Same thing today at the ATM put it in park , did my business , put it in gear and nothing ! Nothing ! Just like it was chained to a wall !! Finally it slammed into gear again ! Making the same nasty sound ! I would like to drive it off a cliff !!!!! I think weíre all screwed ! Iím a farm boy grew up driving and fixing big equipment! And I guess Iím not smart enough to drive a 50k pick up truck ! Very depressing! Hope they find the fix before everyone wrecks the transmissions ! I would never abuse a vehicle to make it sound like that thing when it drops in gear !

Also I forgot to mention, Iím not a Ram engineer, but I would take a hard look at that electric shift solenoid on these transmissions ! They obviously arenít strong enough to pull the gear out of park ! Itís just like when your in 4 low and it wonít come out until you go to neutral and get the pressure off the gears !

Default 2019 ram 1500 wonít move in drive !

Hi Jasmine , Thanks for reply , please send a link to contact you directly. I donít see anyway to do that .
Well it needs to be fixed , however if they canít duplicate it they are not gonna do anything about it anyways . Iím not thrilled about someone trying to get my truck to slam into gear so they can try to fix it , until they know whatís causing this and put out a service bulletin it wonít get fixed ! Iíve seen were others have numerous trips to dealer and not resolved , itís happened twice in last 2 weeks with less than 900 miles on it , so I canít just let them drive it for 2 weeks to hear it do it . Yesterday I was trapped at an ATM ! Couldnít move truck couldnít get my door open to get out ! People beeping at me what a joke ! And you can read my comments on ram5thgen forum about my radio blasting my ear drums out ! Or it has no volume at all! I hate my new truck ! Good job Ram !
