I have 2002 Concore with only 55,000 kilometers on it. It was my fathers car. He said he put new brakes on it last summer. However I noticed a grinding noice when I turn or vear left but no noise when I turn of vear right. I was wondering if it could be the brake pads in the left front where the noise seems to eminate. Afterall the have to be still practically new since he only drove the car about five blocks to and from his office and on occasion to Ottawa about 200 km there and 200 back. Before I bring the car to the mechanic I was hoping someone out there might have had this problem before or would know right off what the problem is.

Anyway, it's pretty easy to check the thickness of the brake pad on any given wheel by removing the wheel and looking at the pads. You can also look at the brake rotor for evidence of grinding without even removing the wheel.

Since you describe grinding noises which result from turning the wheel and apparently not from applying the brakes, the most likely culprit is a wheel bearing.

 

on the concords if im not mistaken you would have to get a hub assy. thy are easy to install.
