Default Electrical power for trailer 2006 Pacifica

Has anyone installed a Bargman 7 way connector for an Aliner popup camper? The camper has a couple of deep cycle batteries that can be charged while being towed. The wiring harness is designed for a 4 way connection but I bought an adaptor kit for the 7 way Bargman which requires another powered wire for a 40 amp circuit. Any suggestions as to what is the best place to get this power from?

The parts house said to connect directly to the battery and suggested 10 gauge wire.

Thanks

Default Trailer socket

With reference to your setup I think you should definitely run a decent gauge wire straight from the battery with the correct size inline fuse as close to the battery as possible. Especially for charging 2 leisure batteries, they will be drawing a fair few amps and I doubt there is much wiring in your vehicle that could cope. The bigger gauge is to cope with the amps/resistance and help prevent voltage drop and an equal or bigger size earth will be needed. Also a voltage sensing relay will be required. This will only supply power to the tow socket when it senses the alternator is pushing out the correct voltage. This also stops your vehicle starting off the trailer batteries and burning out your wiring. Good luck
