New Aspen Owner!
Hello everyone, thought I would post up and introduce myself. The wife and I recently purchasedan 09Aspen in Cool Vanilla with all the bells and whistles, we really like the SUV. Unfortunately we are having a transmission problem already. It only has 2200 mile on it and the dealership has had it now for 5 going on 6 days. I hope this will be taken care of and then be trouble free because like I said we really like the Aspen.
Looking forward to talking with all the Aspen owners about the vehicle and all the ins and outs of the SUV.
Take care,
Brad

Amazn1, Congrats on the Aspen & welcome to the site! Sucks that your Aspenhas been in the shop for so long. If it makes you feel better, I haven't heard of any consistant problems with the Aspen, I would see your problem, as an isolated problem, and once the dealer has it licked, I would expect trouble free miles.
I would suggest you use the recommended Mid Grade fuel. It made a huge difference with ours for fuel economy.

Thanks Al B, Yea i figured it was just a little bad luck, but I'm sure it will get taken care of. Unfortunately the Aspen will be out of service for a total of two weeks. We really miss driving it, it is a nice vehicle. I did start putting mid-grade gas in it but havn't even gotten through a whole tank since it has been in the shop. I'm hoping our fuel economy will get better after it gets fixed because we were only getting 9 MPG city driving before it went into the shop.
See ya around.

9mpg? is that hand calcluated? or the overhead confuser? Our worst was 9.5, hand calculated, but the truck was new and my wife used the car starter pretty much every day due to the poor weather at the time. We now get around 15.2 mpg in the city, car starter included. Highway is much better than expected as well. 26mpg, hand calculated.
Yes 9 MPG. I went off of the carputer. I know they are not always completely accurate, but I have a Dodge Magnum and have tested the accuracy of it's carputer for MPG's and it is never off by more that .5 -1 MPG. So even if it is off there is no way it would be any better that 10 MPG. I'm just thinking that since the Aspen wasn't feeling well, she wasn't able to use the MDS. We have used the remote starter but it wasn't on for more than 2-4 min before we got in it.
I am really looking forward to getting it back so I can see if she acts a little better, only one more week to go [:@]

I was thinking the same as you... MDS wasn't being used for whatever reason. You can definately tell when it is working tho, especially on the highway with the cruise on.
I would be using the hammer on that tranny constantly 'till you feel more than confident in it's reliability. I full throttle regularly on mine, flawless every time. I did find one fault tho... if you want to call it that?!... you can't put this vehicle into a constant slide! The traction control and anti-roll midigation kicks in and will not let it slide... AT ALL!!!! My wife asked me to figure out why she couldn't do a DOE-NUT in the snow. Itook it out, and sure enough, no can do!, not even with the button in the "OFF" position. I can put my Cummins in a 4WD sideways slide for as long as I want, this Aspen won't let anything happen, kinda good for the peeps that don't know how to drive I guess.
