Default Newbie driver w/ a Sebring 98

Hello all,
just bought a used (3rd owner) 98 Chrysler Sebring 2 Door conver. 6 cyn. w/ 140,000 for $1,800. Now this is my 1st car at my age. Car is like new. Runs great and all. Just having some technical issues with it. First off, I have no idea what to do with the key. The previous owner of the car says that the vehicle already comes with a company installed alarm. But when that key is inserted into main door-driver's side, the alarm goes off. Now, there is no way to turn the alarm off because the "key" to turn it off was lost before 2nd owner bought it. Alarm will not go off if opened from passanger door. Do I need to get one of those KEYLESS KEY's for it? or what should I do???

Also, how long does it take for the interior lights to turn off on their own?

the key has nothing to do with diasbling the alarm. The chip keys are gray and are only used when starting up the car. If u can open up the pass side an no alarm goes off then I would say u have an issue with the door latch, key pos switch or a wire issue in the Driver side door area.

Yeah, it's probably an issue with the latch, try poking around with the door wiring.
