Only get heat with expansion tank pressure cap off

Default Only get heat with expansion tank pressure cap off

No leaks new thermostat new radiator and is fully purged only getting heat when I take the pressure cap off. 2007 Pacifica all wheel drive 4.0

Welcome to the forum. You might get more responses if you post your question in the Pacifica forum further down the front page.

You might want to check the condition of the hoses leading to the heater. Something in a hose might be blocking flow when subjected to pressure.

Thanks for the response! I have checked both houses and blew them out to make sure nothing was in them or clogging the heater core

Hoses have a lining in them. If that has become torn it could have developed a flap that acts like a check valve. Be careful when "blowing" out any part of the system. It's designed to withstand about 15 psi or so. Household water pressure can greatly exceed that and blow out things like the water pump seal. Ditto compressed air pressure.
