My Concorde and both my Sebrings developed leaky aluminum rims. I have compressed air at home so filling the tires back up isn't a problem but it is a nuisance. The guy at Belle Tire claims it's due to oxidation of the rim that can be fixed by unmounting the tire, cleaning the rim and applying a "black sealer" for $16/tire.
Has anyone had experience with this fix? Does it hold up? Has anyone heard of a DIY approach that works for this problem?

-It works just fine. They just have to clean the oxidation from the inside lip before applying the sealer and you'll be good to go. The shop I go to uses a bench grinder with a large wire wheel on it.

You can buy the bead sealer and do it yourself. I got a can at Advance Autoparts for less than $9.

If you are going to a shop ask how much more for them to rebalance your tires while they are at it.
