Default 99 LHS No speedometer

Car stalls, speedo dead, check engine light on codes 1684 & 0700, Trans was a quart low but this did not help. All fuses good. Speed sensor? Where is it located?

For starters, we need some more info on the car. It stalled, but does it start again? Does it do anything?

The codes correspond to something very specific. Google it.

A quart low? Do you have a leak? That is pretty abnormal.

VSS? Not sure on the location. I also googled the FSM and downloaded it.

I did Google them.

1684 is battery disconnected within last 50 starts. The battery was not disconnected or dead for about a year.

0700 is trans computer has a problem, nothing specific at all.

I did forget to mention it was in limp mode. That is why I was guessing the speed sensor.

Turns out it was the Output speed sensor. $24 part, simple to change. Located on the drivers side a little above the pan. There are two sensors there I matched it to the new one. Car good as new. 184K original motor and trans.

Input and Output Speed sensor are large scale failure item on these cars.

Easy to change.
