Default 04 Sebring l4 DOHC: How do I bypass the AC compressor?

I bought a 04 Sebring sedan (base model) that had been sitting idle for almost 10 years. I changed the oil and battery and started driving it. The AC compressor is shot. I don't have the money to get a new one but I don't want it to lock up while I'm driving, causing the belt running it to burn off (and leave me stranded somewhere). How can I route the serpentine belt to bypass the AC compressor?

You could cut the wire to the clutch.

They make bypass pulleys that you can install in place of the ac compressor.
