2004 Limited Convertible Motor Blown
I have a 2004 chrysler sebring with the 2.7 liter engine in it now and has blown. I am now trying to replace the motor and dont know which route to go. I know the motor I have now are known for sludging and blowing like mine has. So should I get a reman 2.7 or down grade to the 2.4 or go with the 3.2,3.5 need to know what to do. I don't want to buy a salvage motor because I might run into the same problem I have now.
What do you believe would be the best cost effictive way. To rebuild or buy a reman. I'm not real sure what went wrong with mine. I can still crank the motor. It just has a loud knocking coming from the motor. I do not think its lifters tapping, its much louder than a tap. If I rebuilt mine should I go ahead and have my heads reworked. I believe they are still fine. All motor accessories are still fine, just believe its the block that would need to be rebuilt. Any suggestions on the best way for me to go as far as best cost. Also, I really appreciate the quick response to my question.
If you really like the car, the best way to go is to get a reman engine with the BEST warranty you can find. If you're not willing to do that then I would just let it go and get another car. Jasper is a good company that will stand behind their waranty. Mopar is going to be too expensive, but you can still price shop just for your own info.
Hey I just checked parts here at the dealer. It listed at $4400 then the part number superceded to a different number and it is listing right at $3000 now. 3 Years/100,000 mile warranty that covers labor too at any dealer in the USA. Alldata labor time is showing 16.3 hours.
