Default camshaft position sensor getting oil on it

Hey all,

My son's 04' Sebring with 2.4 DOHC engine is leaking past the rear camshaft (seal) presumably and then throws codes due to the oil getting on the camshaft position sensor. Wipe the oil off with a rag, put it back on, and away you go for a few more weeks. Sealed it once with RTV to make sure no oil is getting from the outside/in and it still faulted. I am reasonably certain the oil is coming past the camshaft and the videos I've watched don't show a seal or anything in that location (only in the front).

What keeps the oil from infiltrating the camshaft position sensor? and how can it be repaired/replaced?

TIA,

Chris

Talking oil leak

if oil is getting past the cam sensor it has to missing it's Oring or it's loose or defective , make sure it's not a leaking valve cover gasket,if gasket is good, remove cam sensor, clean and inspect for cracks
