Default Cruise Control

I have a 2002 Sebering Conv. The cruise works for a few miles and quits. The indicator light goes out and will not come back on and cruise will not work untill you turn off the ignition and restart and then same thing all over again. I changed the servo and same problem. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

The cruise control's "brain" is the engine computer. It gets input from the multifunction switch on the steering column, from the output speed sensor on the transmission, and from the brake light switch and sends it's output to the servo connected to the throttle. The brake light switch tells it to kick off. Make sure you are not riding the brake pedal with your left foot (some people do that) and that the switch is not adjusted to be overly sensitive such that a little bump causes the pedal to vibrate and activate the switch. If there was a problem with the output speed sensor it would probably cause other issues and set a trouble code. You have apparently already ruled out the servo as the cause.
Hope that helps.

Not riding brake. I would think hiting brake would just shut cruise off not disable completely. Must be a problem in the engine computer from what you are telling me.

Take a look at the brake switch. It's a lot cheaper to repair that than the computer, and it might be the cause. Only other source I can imagine is the multifunction switch.

Good luck.
