Default Does TPMS ON affect cruise control ?

My 2008 Sebring convertible 2.7L has been reliable, but recently cruise control stopped working. Pressing the cruise control push-button should cause the cruise lamp to illuminate. It worked great for years.

Also, the TPMS system indicates the driver-side rear tire TPMS sensor stopped reporting data (the tire pressure is fine). I think the cruise control did work fine for a few days after the TPMS was ON, then cruise wouldn't turn ON anymore for a few weeks. Recently the cruise control lamp started to illuminate again on the dash, but cruise still does not engage.

Is there a linkage between the TPMS reporting no data from a TPMS sensor & the cruise control system stop working? Could this be a system safety interlock that disables cruise control until the TPMS system error is resolved?

Or one has no affect on the other, fixing the TPMS sensor won't solve the cruise control problem? Thankful for your collective wisdom, comments appreciated.

as long as you have an ABS warning , cruise is not going to work , at least that is what I was told , I had the sensor replaced and my cruise , although it lights up like its working , there is no mechanical responds what so ever !

Brendan: I don't have an ABS lamp on, just a TPMS lamp indicating low tire pressure.
Tire pressures are fine, the sensor must have stopped sending, so it or it's battery died.
