Default NEED HELP BADLY PLEASE

I have been trying to figure out this problem on my 96 Seabring coupe for almost a year now and still cant seam to figure it out. Now im at the point where i want to rip my hair out. I have this creeking noise that comes from the drivers side front wheel. This sound only happins while braking. The sound always goes away after have have removed the wheel and reinstalled it. I have cleaned the corrosion off the hub and off the rim and painted both and the noise went away but returned after a coupple days. I have lubed every pivot/sliding part on the brke caliper and pads and still have the problem. I was wondering if maybe it might be the wheels comming a little loose just enough to move since they are a hub pilot type wheel. (meaning the hub centers the wheel not the lugs them selves) The lug holes seam to be slightly bigger then the lug not itself. Could this be a problem?? I am really desperate for some help on this problem so i dont go insane. Please help if you have any info or sugestions. Thanks alot

Just saw your post. A friend had a 95 Avenger with aftermarket aluminum rims and had the same issues. Same headaches, and tried the same solutions. It only went away when he replaced the rims with the stockers.

He believed it to be oversized mounting holes and/or not quite the right type of lug nut to hold rim on. Sorry, no other info.

Yeah the lug nuts did concern me, they are a pretty crappy set up. The holes are slightly larger than the lug nut and the lug nut is not tapered to help center the wheel. I guess thats what i have to deal with. If any one else has anymore sugestions it would be a big help. Thanks

My car life seems to be centered on left wheel noise. Do you get the noise only from the front left? Are the rims and lug nuts the same all around? Seem strange that if all items are the same, only one wheel has the issue. Is the brake pulsing when you apply the pedal?

The noise only seams to be comming from the left front. The brakes are not pulsing at all. actually thats when i got the problem, the first time i took the wheels off to do the brake job. All the wheels are the same and they are factory wheels. Im thinking that its the lugs and wheelsbecause they are the type of lugsthat are not tapered at the base to help center the wheel.

Seems strange that only one wheel is the cause while the condition is present for all four. Likely best to buy one set of tapered lugs and install them on the front left and see if the noise disappears. Report back, but I think that the problem maybe somewhere else. Good luck.

IDont think you can buy lugs for this wheel because of the type of wheel that it is.
