2017 300 S Touch Screen Separating?
Hello all, first time poster and I was wondering if any other Mopar owners have ran into this issue yet. I've Googled and didn't come up with anything like this so I figured I would post it here. Maybe it will help someone in the future. I'll keep the progress updated as it goes along.
It looks like it's peeling and at first it was just cosmetic. Last week it started acting as if it was receiving touch input all by itself and has gotten much worse the past few days. It skips through songs, changes the input between USB 1 and 2 and you can forget going to any of the other UConnect settings to do anything. Next month will make 1 year I've owned the car and I have to say that so far the UConnect system seems to be junk. I've had a few other issues with it in this time period with this one being the worst so far. Thankfully the car is still under warranty and just got dropped off at the dealership earlier to be "diagnosed" and then I guess repaired later after they order the screen it obviously needs. Video and images weren't proof enough I suppose.

Anyone else out there with UConnect issues? Some of the other problems I've had have been the system locking up while driving so I get to listen to an awesome audio studdering sound for 3 or 4 minutes until it reboots itself. Another has been the USB inputs in the console just quit working one day. Wouldn't read anything I inserted. Tried various reset procedures that didn't work so I let it sit half a day with the battery disconnected and it fixed it until a month later when it did it again. The next day it was working by itself and hasn't done that since.
Also what's up with this nice sized screen and only having a 3 band EQ? I could understand if it was 1983 again when that was as good as an onboard EQ got on a radio but c'mon.

I would very much like to reach out to your team as I just got a call from the dealership who tells me it looks like the screen has been punched. I informed the guy that I took pictures and documented it as it gotten worse and could assure him it had not been punched. He says if they replace it that Chrysler will end up expecting me to pay for it because they will say the screen was intentionally damaged. I did not damage the screen.
So still no answer from any admins and still can't message ChryslerCares. I did contact the dealership I bought the car at yesterday and the service manager called me a little while ago and listened to my story. He said with the car under warranty there should have been no charge. He also said there was really no reason for them to blow me off if the screen isn't physically broken which you can see in the pictures is not. I believe they have seen the pics I posted and he also said it seems to him like a manufacturer's defect. They understand that a 3 hour drive there and back is ****ty for me so he suggested I try another dealership closer to me since there are a few that are 30 minutes to an hour from me. If they're not willing to fix the issue he told me he would be glad to order what I need and call me when he has it to get the repair done for me. It would be pretty inconvenient but at least I do have an option to get it fixed.
I just don't get it though. He pointed out as I was about to make the point that a dealership is a representative of the product. There's no need for me to take it back to the original dealership, especially since the issue is just beginning to be resolved and with the car still being within warranty. We've both come to the conclusion that my local dealership is just crappy, for lack of more descriptive adjectives.
I'll keep this thread updated in the event it helps anyone in the future with this issue. I've no doubt the issue is with the screen and my personal opinion is it's just defective and it was probably sped up by the intense heat experienced where I live this summer. I've contacted the Chrysler Cares support number, listed here. The lady I spoke with gave me a case # and someone is supposed to call me today.

It seems I can message you now so I am sending the information. I called the Chrysler number back with my case number Friday afternoon and was told it would be two business days after initially being told it would be one. I believe this is business day #3 and still no contact.
I just got a call a little while ago from Uconnect Customer Care. I briefly explained the situation with the screen and he said he thought he had dealt with it a few times before and asked for the pictures so I sent them directly to him. I would think they're only responsible for the software running on the device but after getting 90% lip service and 10% results I'm just happy to have heard from someone. Hopefully they can help me get this resolved.
