Thanks man. Hope you get an awesome ride. I know they can't twist their arm but it would be nice to have a little weight to put into my conversation with my dealership's management or whatever dealership I end up using.

Mine got fixed but I had to go to a dealership that was 60 miles away. The Chrysler/Uconnect rep that I was dealing with was helpful, but overall didn't do anything for me that I couldn't have done myself. He did say if there was a charge they would pay for it BUT he also said he would call the dealership I took it to during my appointment time and they confirmed to me that they never heard from him... thankfully it didn't come to finding out if they really would or not. I was told by the service dept rep that it "looks like a warranty issue to us and we have no problem replacing it." They ordered the screen and I set up a date 1 week later and it was done no problem. I also ended up trading the car to them the next day for a '17 Challenger Scat Pack. Overall the whole thing has soured me to buying cars/dealing with dealerships. No one twisted my arm to trade but if my local dealership would've done the right thing I wouldn't be making a higher car payment now and getting less MPG... but I am getting more smiles per gallon

Bottom line if the people you're dealing with are being unreasonable then don't waste any more of your time with them. A simple warranty claim is something that should be taken care of with 0 hassle. That reason with them, talk in person, etc. BS won't fly in those situations. If you haven't already I would still recommend contacting Chrysler Cares and then I would find another dealership. I found a much larger dealership where I figured turning out a higher volume of work would be more important than pinching pennies and it worked.

Good luck and I hope it gets sorted out for you

my question is did you have to only replace the screen or did the radio have to be replaced? I’m not under warranty anymore so I have to pay out of pocket and wondering about how much it would cost.

I am having exact same issue. I have an appointment tomorrow and I’m no longer under warranty why isn’t this a recall situation as there are multiple people with the same issues. I love my car but having to pay hundreds of dollars on a newer car just for a radio really doesn’t sit well with me. Do you offer any type of payment assistance for us who have to pay totally out of pocket?

Sorry for the delayed response. I rarely check this email. They replaced the whole unit as I recall it. I drove the car home and the next day drove it back and traded it but it seemed to me it was a new unit.

The screen in my 2017 300S started to separate just a little while it was in warranty however it was working just fine. However, not long after the warranty was up about 1/4-1/3 of the screen delaminated and the system is unusable right now.

I'm an electronic tech and can do repairs however here's the problem... The replacement LCD part for the 2017 and later 300 cars are just not available and if one can be found, its overpriced in the $500-$1500. A complete Uconnect radio is $1700! I'm pretty unhappy right now about my options with this system and very close to considering an aftermarket solution.

Hey @wldock --

If you decide to get your Uconnect touchscreen properly looked at by your dealer, your dealer may be willing to work with you on this once they perform a proper diagnosis and consider all of the necessary information. If you'd like an additional layer of support while working with them, feel free to send us a private message so we can look into it for you!

Thanks in advance,

Courtney

Yea it really sucks. There's enough of this scattered around the web now that there should probably be a recall. I'm sure there's many more out there that people don't go to a forum and complain about. In fact my co-worker has a friend with a 300 and his screen has also started to delaminate as of a month or so ago. He says the guy rarely drives the car and it is garage kept so that kinda blows my theory of sunlight causing it unless the guy has windows in his garage or something. I have a 2017 Challenger Scat that I drive daily and my windows are tinted, I use a sun visor from Covercraft and I also lay a soft cloth over the edge of the dash to keep the screen out of direct sunlight.

If this one begins to separate I don't know what i'll do. As far as I know you can't just yank it out and put something else in as so much is integrated into that head unit.
