I have a 2014, 300. I live on flat Long Island. The car has 57,500 miles on it. I'm the original owner. The car was inspected in 2020 July, brakes OK, and now have ground down to the rotors. No Inspection has said you are due for brakes. The brakes and rotors are lasting less than 20,000 miles. I have been told by dealer service that this is normal, 20k miles max. At $1000 a repair this can't be. Is this the new normal?

 

Most certainly not normal. Are you a "brake dragger"? Here's what I've done

• Rear pads at 72k
• Front brakes and rotors at 85k (I purchased it at 65k so may have been done before)
• Front brake pads at 130k because the oil change guys said they were nearly gone. When I measured them they were 40% remaining.
• Rear pads and rotors at 162k
• Front pads and rotors at 170k

Pads and rotors only cost about $85 so someone is making some money off your brakes.

 

That's what I thought. I know about not riding brakes and clutches. The dealer service insists this is normal, possible design flaw. Bought it from this dealer. Sorry, end of story, suck it up.

 

Not normal. I have 53,000 miles on my 2012 300c with original brakes and as of 3 weeks ago the inspection was a okay.

I suspect cheap/improper components used on the brake job ? Maybe something wrong at the master cylinder/brake pedal causing drag ? Where are you ChryslerTech ?

Caliper likely dragging depends on his location salt belt know issues with cars. Cheap parts also a factory how hard they ride on brakes lots of factors.
