Default Serious Question

Looks good to the dealership.
2006 300C AWD 5.7 165k
Long story short... The local tire shop separated my Flowmaster cat back exhaust, both sides somehow, right at the flare joint below my feet. They had the local muffler shop "fix" my exhaust. Come to find out they welded in this weird adapter and a flex joint. Both sides.
Would you consider this a fix? Dealership says it looks good to them. Drove it for a bit then completely died. Dealership says catalytic converters are most likely bad. Quoted me $4k. I got it fixed somewhere else lol

Are those adapters restricting my exhaust flow? Could they potentially cause problems, like too much back pressure? My brother thought I put a turbo on my car because of the loud sucking sound they make.
