Default P3425 and check engine light, mds doesnt work

My aspen 5.7 had the fautl p3425 and the check engine light was illuminated.

The mds was not working. It was not hearable and the displsy doesnt shows "fuel saver"

In this case it was a fault mds solenoid AND/ OR mds solenoid harness.

I removed the manifold (dont loose the ac lines/ just take the ac gen a bit to the front) and see that the small harness was hard like a pipe.

2 solenoid came good out- the other two gone broken by removing. I had take a thread cutter M8 (or was it m10) stage 1 and fix a screw in (remove the solenoid bolt out before) to remove i upwards with a double hook tool usually for simmerings. I used a vacuum cleaner to hold the dirt away/ doesnt fall down to the oil ways.

Please be carfully when you put in the new solenoid that the o ring go nice down in the hole. Put oil anywhere at the new solenoid before, especially the o rings that theede are slippy. Drive the screw slowly with pauses to give the o rings time to set.

Take care that the new harness i good fixed in place, not that the manifold pushes it down at the wrong place.

Thanks for the tips. I really need to do this to mine. I've got at least one bad if not two and I've already got 4 replacements for them. Just haven't gotten around to doing it. My biggest setback is I don't have a garage to work in so I would be dealing with whatever weather we have.

Sadly mine is getting several other issues that are making me question if I want to keep her for much longer. Still have issues with the transfer case motor (aftermarket motor where the plug isn't seating all the way in now to engage), popping in the front when I take off from a stop, an RPM "whine" (think this may be the alternator making noise although it is still putting out proper voltage) and now I am getting a P0456 (EVAP leak VERY small).

I love the truck still. It is very comfortable to ride in and has the most horsepower/torque I've had in any of my vehicles. Even with the low MPG. I just don't know how much longer I can go without having to drop some serious coin in her to keep her moving.
