The 6 disc CD changer quit working. The 3 lights above the numbers started flashing back and forth from right to left. and the error message displays intermittently. If I push the eject button all 6 lights come on for about 1 min. then the 3 start flashing back and fourth again. I tried disconnecting the battery cables and touching them together to try and reset it with no avail. any ideas?

 

Removed the changer from the dash and carefully took it apart. found a loose cd inside the disc changer mechanism. one of the disc retaining clips had come loose. the mechanism was toast. Went to the local junkyard and got another changer plugged it in same thing error. Carefully took it apart and same thing broken changer mechanism. I did score 6 kids dvd's out of it though. Must be common for them to wear out after 15 years after all there's a lot of plastic parts. Returned to the junkyard to get my money back and their policy was no cash refunds but they would exchange it for another. Luckily they had another one and this time I lucked out and the mechanism was still good and it works fine. I don't know how long it will last but it was worth the $40 to me. I did some research and you can buy new disc changer mechanisms online, apparently they are pretty common and multiple car companies used them. I know mitsubishi for sure. You can't just drop it in though. you have to use the circuit board fro your broken mechanism. so you have to swap it with the new one so it will communicate in chrysler language. Hope this helps.
